Cover Explanation:

At NIST, we have been developing a general markup language for scientific and engineering units of measure in order to facilitate moving information between different domains. The cover illustration is a schematic diagram showing one possible method of incorporating UnitsML (Units Markup Language) into AnIML (Analytical Information Markup Language) which uses two schemas: a core schema and a technique schema. The sequence of events is: 1. query the Units Database; 2. response from the Units Database; 3. creation of an XML instance document. For more information see the article by Ismet Celebi et al.
